Fall fashion inspiration

Monday, 26 August 2013

While summer is my favourite season, when I pick up the September fashion magazines, my pulse quickens. I love fall shopping, and this FW13 (that's fall winter 2013 in fashion lingo) is promising a lot of wearable trends. I'm also happy to see that a lot of styles from this summer and even last fall are sticking around, so that means more mileage out of items that you may already own. Black is definitely back. Leather, camo, denim and animal prints are all still very au courant. Below is my covet list. Of course, I won't be buying all of these, but they're serving as inspiration for my fall shopping trips. And who says a girl can't dream?

km-ragbone-jean-destroyedbu

rag & bone Destroyed Buckley Boyfriend jean

Loving the boyfriend jean as they’re so much more comfortable than all those darn skinnies. I like the wash of these, plus they’re a bit cropped, perfect for showing off some wicked heels. Old Navy has some boyfriend jeans in their selection this season.

valentino-black-rockstud

Valentino ‘Rockstud’ ballerina flat

A ladylike shoe that’s practical (read, flat) with some rocker edge. Does it get any better than that?

jeweled-sweatshirt-grey

J.Crew Jeweled Short-Sleeve Sweatshirt

I love the juxtaposition of this, a jewel encrusted sweatshirt! Definitely not for the gym.

pistol-short-bootie

Acne Pistol short black bootie

The little black bootie has become a fashion mainstay. I like the nod to cowboy styling of this one.

cc-skye-rivera-cuff

CC Skye Rivera Cuff (Club Monaco)

I’m not one to drape myself in a ton of jewellery, but I do like to wear one statement piece.  This fits that bill.

jcrew-goodwinn-purse

J.CREW Goodwinn Purse

This shape of bag is huge this season, and I like the navy and black combo here. A little bit unexpected.

rose-print-dress

Faith Connexion rose-print neoprene dress

This cocktail dress definitely makes a statement. I like the rose motif, big this fall.

mason-sweater-empty

Michelle Mason leather-paneled cotton and cashmere-blend sweater

This sweater incorporates two big trends this season, cobalt blue and leather accents on the sleeves.  Plus, it’s longer in the back to help hide the derriere a bit!

wilfred-montesson-jacket

Wilfred Montesson jacket (Aritzia)

Biker jackets have become a wardrobe staple.  They come in so many fabrics now and pretty much every price point.  If you have one in leather, maybe it’s time for something softer.  The Gap also has some made of denim.

camo-silk-pants

Camo print silk pants

Camo silk seems like an oxymoron, but this style of pant is comfy and stylish. Wear with heels; it can look too “panama” if worn with flats.

cm-casey-calfhair-sandal

Club Monaco Casey calf-hair sandal

Club Monaco has come out with a shoe line. Yippee!  I like the touch of animal print, and the ankle strap is still big this season.

raquel-dress-front

Raquel Allegra Deconstructed Dress in shell tie dye

And now for something a little different…I like the casualness of this tie dye dress. I’d wear it with some booties and a big cardi for fall.

Sorry ladies I can’t afford to go shopping with you and also understand why you don’t prices on items in your style segment as I just priced the Acne Pistol boots…..$ 570.00 !! Nice boots though.☻

Hi Elaine. Yup, some of the items are expensive. But that’s why I said these things are serving as inspiration. That’s what so great about today’s market place – with so many retailers and so many price points, it is possible to find looks for less.

Hi Kristina; Yes I do have some Steve Madden’s and l love them so will go back for a new pair.
It would be nice to have the prices on your fashion finds though if only to eliminate that Google step.
I have been a fan for years and look forward to more. ( one of my favourites was when Rachael Ray smashed the wine glass on the table) the look on your faces was priceless!!
        Cheers..Elaine
