My New Favourite Margarita Recipe
I'm usually a diehard lime on the rocks kind of gal. But every once in a while in a new margarita flavour comes along to knock your socks off.
This one is courtesy my friend Michelle, who has whipped up a mean marg or two over the years. Lately, she’s been making them with peaches, fresh in the summer, or dipping into her stash of fresh frozen fruit in the winter.
You can also use store bought frozen peaches, do a combo, or sub in some frozen mango or other fruit of your choosing.
The result is rich, creamy, and just the right amount of boozy. Not to mention that with one of these, you’re well on your way to fulfilling your daily fruit intake. Now that’s what I call an (adult) smoothie.
– 4 to 5 cups frozen fruit or combo of fresh fruit and ice
– 6 oz tequila
– 3 oz Triple Sec, Tia Maria or Cointreau
You may want to add a dash more booze if you’ve had a bad, or a good, day.
Today I used a combination of fresh peaches (peeled) and frozen mango. (The nectarines in the above picture were just for show.) I also used Cointreau, though the other spirits work just as well.
Some recipes call for added simple sugar and/or lime, but I find these perfect exactly the way they are. Drink near a cactus so that you feel like you’re somewhere warm and deserty.
