My recent visit to London

I just returned from London where I was visiting my girlfriend, who just named me godmother of her brand new daughter. How exciting for me!!

I had a great time hanging out with my girlfriend and goddaughter in Fulham, which is about a 40-minute tube ride/walk from central London. This trip was different from others in that I rarely stay in the burbs, and we were pretty much house-bound, with all those nappies and whatnot.

As a baptismal gift, I gave my goddaughter an early edition of Winnie-the-Pooh. I considered all the typical gifts, like the Tiffany rattle, etc., but I wanted to do something different. Something she would really keep for her lifetime. So I contacted a used book dealer I’ve purchased from before: Bauman Rare Books. Their central office is in Manhattan, but you can shop online. You can spend anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to many thousands more. I think this is worth a stop if you’re looking for a special gift for anyone who’s interested in books.

At Heathrow airport, I got to experience the brand new Terminal 5. It’s where you fly through if you’re flying British Airways internationally out of London. It’s so shiny and clean! The shopping is marginal and not as good as Terminal 4 in my opinion, but there are lots of options for food and comfortable seats to take a load off.

And I finally managed to pick up some L’Oreal Elnett hairspray, which is often rated by the fashion mags as the best hairspray. The verdict: It didn’t give me Jennifer Aniston hair, but it’s a good product, light, and worth the few dollars it cost. I’ll buy it again when I visit my goddaughter next.
