So Into Africa

Monday, 19 April 2010 | Tags: , , ,

I recently had the amazing opportunity to go on a safari in Africa. As an animal lover, this had always been at the very TOP of my bucket list. But to sweeten this particular deal, I was also a guest the Ulusaba, Richard Branson's Private Game Reserve just outside of Kruger National Park in South Africa. I know, incredible! In fact, so incredible, I'm going to let pictures tell this story.

We were so close. And she didn’t give two hoots. Amazing, so majestic.

Hippo hiding. You don’t want to mess with him, that’s for sure. Had to zoom in to take this photo.

Our amazing guide Stuart tracked him and found him hanging out in the tall grasses.

No zoom. This is how close we got. Though of course, there is no leaving the jeep!

You definitely don’t want to get too close to these guys. We had our zoom out.

In a fight, I’m sure he’d get his point across.

We turned the corner and there she was, right on the road, out for an afternoon stroll.

A visit to the local school. These kids can play a mean game of soccer!

Yup, that’s me, riding an elephant at the Elephant Whisperers, Hazyview, South Africa. An amazing place where you get to interact with these magnificent animals.

I want to say it was the trip of a lifetime, but I hope to go on safari again!
